Secretary of State launches elections facts website to disprove false claims about elections

From Clean Elections Minnesota: MN Secretary of State Simon has launched an Elections Facts Website (6/15/22). “Minnesota has candidates running for election in 2022 who embrace the Big Lie and make the disproven claim that Minnesota elections are not fair, and pledge to make changes to election laws that would restrict the right to vote. Candidates are running on these false claims in statewide, state-level, county, and municipal elections. Here are great resources to fight disinformation with facts.

On June 15, Steve Simon held the first in a series of Lunch and Learn webinars. The intensity of the lies about elections has reached a crisis point, so the Secretary’s office needed to go on the offensive to debunk myths. The website will make it less likely that misinformation and disinformation will take hold and that Minnesotans can feel confident that their vote will be counted. The office has worked with local and state election officials to develop the site. “On this page, you'll find resources to help explain WHY we know our elections are fair, accurate, and secure.” To view the webinar, click here.”

From The Humphrey School of Public Affairs:

"The misinformation and disinformation concerning election outcomes relates closely to voter perceptions about election administrators’ efforts to avoid fraud. This webinar highlights ways that election administrators can take an active role in communicating why elections are fair and accurate. Kim Wyman from the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency and election directors David Maeda and Chris Piper from Minnesota and Virginia respectively discuss how election administrators can explain physical and cyber security protocols in creating a first line of defense against misunderstandings about election processes. The panel is moderated by Colorado Election Director, Judd Choate."

Recorded live on Wednesday, March 17, from 12-1pm.
