February Member Meeting. Join us by Zoom for discussion on the LWVMN Firearms Consensus Report. Information on the report will be shared by email prior to the meeting. Colleen Jacks will explain the Firearms Consensus Ballot; after discussion,. members will be asked to vote on eight key statements. Votes will be anonymous. Any members not able to attend the Zoom meeting will have the option to vote later by paper or online ballot. Vote tabulations must be sent to LWVMN by February 17.

General Election Day!

Make a plan to VOTE today! If you are waiting in line at 8pm on Election Day, you will still be able to vote.

  • You have the right to time off work to vote in all state and federal elections, and in all regularly scheduled local elections. MN Statues 204C.04 and 204C.08 subd. 1d state that your employer must pay you for the time you need to vote, if it falls within your scheduled work time. Your employer cannot require you to use personal leave or vacation time.

  • Take only as much time as you need to vote and go to work.

  • Your employer cannot directly or indirectly refuse, limit, or interfere with this right, including what time you choose to vote.

  • Your employer can ask that you tell them when you will be gone, and ask that employees coordinate their absences to minimize workplace disruptions.

You Count: Voter Rights and Responsibilities

LWV-St. Peter Area volunteers will be participating in “You Count: Voter Rights and Responsibilities”, part of a program series sponsored by The Maverick Diversity Institute that features a variety of topics to increase understanding of equity, access, and inclusion. On October 4, Liz Steinborn Gourley, Director of the MSU Women’s Center, will be co-presenting with African American Affairs Director, Balencia Sariah Crosby on voter access. This session is targeted at students. The League of Women Voters will provide students with information on registering to vote and making a voting plan. We thank the Women’s Center and Maverick Diversity Institute for inviting us!

Vote by mail or in person starts Sept. 23

Vote by mail or in person starting Sept. 23 through November 8. Be sure to allow plenty of time prior to Election Day if you choose Vote by Mail to ensure your ballot arrives in time. Vote at your designated county elections office:

  • 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday

  • The Saturday before the election (Nov. 5) from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm

  • The Monday before the election (Nov. 7) until 5:00 pm

  • Absentee ballots can be turned in to the Elections Office until 3pm on Nov. 8 (Election Day).

- In Blue Earth County, vote at Blue Earth County Historic Courthouse, 204 S 5th Street in Mankato

- In Le Sueur County, vote at Le Sueur County Government Center, 88 South Park Avenue, Le Center

- In Nicollet County, vote at the Nicollet County Government Center, Public Service Office, 501 S. Minnesota Ave., St. Peter
